Schnell IDEA Cage Machine

During the summer of 2004, Contractors Materials Company (CMC) and MMI of Kentucky (MMI) each installed a Schnell IDEA rebar resistance (fusion) welding machine at each of their locations to compliment the Schnell GTM-MIG rebar welding machine that was installed at CMC in early 2003. Whereas the GTM machine MIG welds spiral rebar cage assemblies together, the IDEA machine resistance welds individual T-2, T-3, and other individual rebar stirrups into a skeletal cage into which longitudinal and/or vertical bars are then traditionally tied.

GTM

Contractors Materials Company has installed a new Schnell "GTM" machine that automatically forms and robotically welds rebar spiral cage assemblies. Only the third machine of its type in North America, the GTM machine has been successfully used for the past fifteen years in Europe, the Mid-East, the Far East, and Australia. For weldability, the GTM machine utilizes dual certified ASTM A615/A615M Grade 60 and ASTM A706/A706M low alloy deformed rebar. For design purposes, the dual certified steel used in the GTM machine produced spiral cage assemblies has a minimum yield of 60,000 psi and tensile of 90,000 psi.

This product is used in curb ramps, rail crossings and platform edges.The paver unit is pressed flush into wet concrete, tamped in place, and any residual debris is removed from the paver surface. Spinmaster

In March of 2006, Contractors Materials Company installed its newest and most innovative piece of rebar fabrication equipment thus far. The SpinMaster, manufactured by KRB Machinery in York, Pennsylvania, and engineered by Arm-Tec of Oerbaek, Denmark, was the first machine of its type installed in North America. The SpinMaster literally ties together individual lengths of rebar with 12 gauge annealed wire into a single plane monolithic mat.
